How to Use
- Ensure you are rested and in a comfortable seated position with your arm supported at heart level.
- Wrap the cuff firmly around your upper arm, approximately 2-3 cm above the elbow crease, ensuring it is snug but not too tight.
- Place the stethoscope diaphragm over the brachial artery in the antecubital fossa (inner elbow).
- Rapidly inflate the cuff to approximately 20-30 mmHg above your usual systolic pressure, or until the radial pulse is no longer palpable.
- Slowly deflate the cuff at a rate of 2-3 mmHg per second while listening for Korotkoff sounds.
- Note the pressure at which the first clear tapping sound (systolic pressure) is heard.
- Continue deflating and note the pressure at which the sounds disappear or become very faint (diastolic pressure).
- Completely deflate the cuff and remove it from your arm.
- Record your blood pressure readings and consult your healthcare provider for interpretation.
