- Adjust the headset: Hold the headset in front of you with the eartubes pointing away. Pull the eartubes apart to fit them comfortably into your ears.
- Select the chestpiece side: Rotate the chestpiece to open either the adult or pediatric side. A small green dot or notch on the stem indicates the active side.
- Position the chestpiece: Place the diaphragm firmly on the patient's skin to listen to high-frequency sounds. For low-frequency sounds, apply light pressure to the bell side (pediatric side with the diaphragm removed).
- Auscultate: Listen carefully to heart, lung, or bowel sounds, focusing on rhythm, intensity, and any abnormal sounds.
- Clean after use: Regularly wipe down the eartips and chestpiece with an alcohol wipe to maintain hygiene.
