How to Use
DELTACAST ELITE Casting Tape should only be applied by trained medical professionals.
- Ensure the patient's skin is clean and dry. Apply appropriate stockinette and sufficient padding (e.g., DELTA-DRY padding) to protect the skin and bony prominences.
- Submerge the DELTACAST ELITE tape roll in room temperature water (20-24°C) for approximately 5-10 seconds, squeezing gently to ensure thorough saturation.
- Remove the tape from the water and squeeze out excess water.
- Immediately begin wrapping the affected limb or body part, overlapping each layer by one-half to two-thirds the width of the tape. Maintain consistent tension without over-tightening.
- Mold the cast to the desired shape as you apply, ensuring proper anatomical contouring and support. The tape will begin to set in approximately 3-5 minutes.
- Allow the cast to fully cure and harden, which typically takes about 20-30 minutes, before weight-bearing or significant movement.
Caution & Warnings
- For professional use only. Application by untrained individuals may result in serious injury or complications.
- Always wear protective gloves during application as the resin may stick to skin.
- Ensure adequate padding is used to prevent pressure sores and skin irritation.
- Monitor the patient for signs of neurovascular compromise (e.g., numbness, tingling, pain, pallor, coolness) after cast application.
- Do not apply directly to compromised skin without proper wound care and protection.
- Dispose of used materials according to local medical waste regulations.
- Keep out of reach of children.
