How to Use
- Ensure the affected limb is clean, dry, and adequately padded with stockinette and casting wadding to protect the skin.
- Wear protective gloves before handling the casting tape.
- Open the DELTACAST SOFT package and immerse the roll of tape in water at room temperature (20-25°C) for a few seconds, squeezing gently to ensure complete saturation.
- Remove excess water by squeezing the roll, then immediately begin applying the tape.
- Wrap the tape around the limb smoothly and evenly, overlapping each layer by approximately one-half to two-thirds the width of the tape.
- Mold the cast into the desired shape within 3-5 minutes of application, ensuring proper anatomical support.
- Allow the cast to fully cure, which typically takes about 20-30 minutes for full weight-bearing strength.
Caution & Warnings
- For external use only. Do not apply directly to broken or irritated skin.
- Always use appropriate padding (stockinette and wadding) between the cast and the skin.
- Monitor the patient's circulation, sensation, and movement (CSM) regularly after cast application to detect any signs of neurovascular compromise.
- Avoid exposing the tape to water or moisture before application, as it will prematurely activate the resin.
- Dispose of used casting materials according to medical waste regulations.
- Keep out of reach of children.
