DELTALITE PLUS Synthetic Fibreglass Casting Tape – Mixed Colours
DELTALITE PLUS Synthetic Fibreglass Casting Tape is an advanced orthopaedic casting solution designed for the effective immobilization of fractures and other injuries. Trusted by healthcare professionals globally, this high-quality casting tape offers superior strength and lightweight comfort for patients.
Made from synthetic fibreglass, DELTALITE PLUS provides excellent rigidity and durability, ensuring robust support throughout the healing process. Its unique construction allows for quick setting and easy moulding to various anatomical contours, facilitating a smooth application.
This particular pack includes a vibrant assortment of mixed colours: 2 Dark Blue, 2 Light Blue, 2 Red, 2 Pink, and 2 Purple rolls, making the casting experience more appealing, especially for pediatric patients.
Benefits of Use:
- Superior Strength: Offers exceptional rigidity and support for secure immobilization of injuries.
- Lightweight Comfort: Significantly lighter than traditional plaster casts, enhancing patient comfort and mobility during recovery.
- Radiolucent: Allows for clear X-ray imaging without the need for cast removal, enabling easier monitoring of fracture healing.
- Easy Application & Removal: Features a smooth application process and can be easily removed with a standard cast saw.
- Water-Resistant: Once fully cured, it resists moisture, allowing for limited contact with water (e.g., showering with caution), though full submersion requires additional waterproof covers.
- Aesthetic Appeal: The mixed colours provide a more positive and personalized casting experience, particularly beneficial for children.
- Breathable Structure: The porous design allows for some air circulation, which can help reduce skin maceration under the cast.
How to Use:
- **Prepare the Limb**: Ensure the patient's skin is clean and dry. Apply appropriate stockinette and padding (e.g., Delta-Net, Delta-Dry) to protect the skin and bony prominences.
- **Wear Gloves**: Always wear protective gloves (latex or nitrile) as the resin is sticky and can irritate skin.
- **Activate the Tape**: Submerge the DELTALITE PLUS roll in room temperature water (21-24°C) for 5-10 seconds, squeezing gently 2-3 times to ensure saturation.
- **Remove Excess Water**: Squeeze out excess water to activate the polyurethane resin. Avoid over-squeezing.
- **Apply the Cast**: Apply the tape smoothly and evenly around the limb, overlapping each layer by one-half to two-thirds the width of the tape. Mold and conform the cast to the patient's anatomy while maintaining the desired immobilization position.
- **Smooth and Finish**: Smooth the surface to ensure good lamination between layers. Avoid wrinkles or creases for a comfortable and strong cast.
- **Curing Time**: The cast begins to set in 3-5 minutes and becomes weight-bearing in approximately 20-30 minutes, achieving full strength in 24 hours.
Caution & Warnings:
- **For Professional Use Only**: This product is intended for application by trained healthcare professionals.
- **Skin Protection**: Always use appropriate skin protection (stockinette, padding) to prevent skin irritation or pressure sores. Do not apply directly to skin.
- **Ventilation**: Ensure proper ventilation during application to avoid inhalation of fumes from the resin.
- **Eye & Skin Contact**: Avoid contact with eyes and mouth. In case of contact, flush immediately with water and seek medical attention. Wear protective gloves at all times during application.
- **Water Exposure**: While water-resistant, standard fibreglass casts require careful water management. Do not immerse fully in water unless using a specific waterproof casting system/liner.
- **Patient Monitoring**: Monitor the patient for signs of neurovascular compromise, pressure sores, or skin irritation post-application.
- **Storage**: Store in a cool, dry place and ensure packages are sealed until use, as exposure to moisture or air can prematurely harden the tape.
