How to Use
- Ensure the skin is clean and dry. Apply appropriate stockinette and padding (e.g., DELTA-DRY Padding) to protect the skin.
- Wear gloves to protect hands from resin. Open the pouch and immerse the DELTALITE PLUS roll in water at room temperature (20-24°C) for 4-6 seconds, squeezing gently to ensure complete saturation.
- Remove from water and squeeze out excess water. Begin wrapping the tape circumferentially around the injured limb, overlapping each turn by approximately one-half to two-thirds the width of the tape.
- Smooth the surface as you wrap to ensure good lamination between layers. Avoid excessive tension.
- Mold the cast to the desired shape during the initial setting time (3-5 minutes).
- Allow the cast to fully cure (typically 20-30 minutes for weight-bearing, full strength in 24 hours) before patient discharge.
Caution & Warnings
- Avoid direct skin contact with the casting tape resin; always use gloves during application.
- Do not overtighten the cast, as this can impede circulation and cause nerve damage.
- Monitor for signs of circulation impairment, such as numbness, tingling, excessive pain, or discoloration of fingers/toes. Seek immediate medical attention if these occur.
- Keep the cast dry unless using a waterproof cast liner.
- Do not insert objects inside the cast to scratch itchy skin, as this can cause skin irritation or infection.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not use if the pouch is damaged or opened.
