Product Overview

The DYNACAST PRELUDE Acute Synthetic Fibreglass Padded Precut Splint is an advanced solution for rapid and effective immobilization of fractures and sprains. Designed for ease of use, this precut splint simplifies the application process, offering a clean and efficient alternative to traditional casting methods. Its durable fiberglass construction combined with integrated padding ensures strong support and patient comfort. Ideal for emergency departments, clinics, and private practices, it helps stabilize injuries quickly, promoting proper healing and reducing patient discomfort.

Benefits of Use

  • Rapid and Easy Application: Precut and pre-padded design allows for quick and straightforward application, saving valuable time in acute injury management.
  • Lightweight and Strong: Constructed from high-quality fiberglass, it offers superior strength-to-weight ratio for effective immobilization without added bulk.
  • Integrated Padding: Soft, water-resistant padding enhances patient comfort and protects the skin, reducing the risk of pressure points and skin irritation.
  • Excellent Conformability: Molds easily to the body's contours for a snug and secure fit, providing optimal support to the injured limb.
  • Water-Resistant: The fiberglass material is resistant to water, making it suitable for patients needing to shower or for use in humid environments (once cured).
  • Radiolucent: Allows for clear X-ray imaging without the need to remove the splint, facilitating ongoing assessment of the injury.
  • Less Mess: Eliminates the need for plaster-of-Paris, reducing mess and cleanup time during application.

How to Use

  1. Select the appropriate size DYNACAST PRELUDE splint for the patient's injury.
  2. Measure the splint to the desired length and cut if necessary. Ensure edges are smooth.
  3. Immerse the splint in clean water (preferably 20-24°C) for approximately 5-10 seconds.
  4. Gently squeeze or blot the splint to remove excess water. Do not wring forcefully.
  5. Apply the splint to the injured area, carefully molding it to the natural contours of the limb.
  6. Secure the splint in place with a conforming bandage or elastic wrap, applying gentle, even pressure until the splint becomes rigid (typically within 3-5 minutes).
  7. Support the limb in the desired position until the splint is fully set.
  8. Instruct the patient on proper care and signs of complications, and schedule follow-up.

Caution & Warnings

  • Always follow medical professional guidance for application and care.
  • Do not apply directly to open wounds or compromised skin without an appropriate sterile dressing.
  • Monitor the patient closely for signs of circulatory compromise (e.g., numbness, tingling, pallor, decreased pulse) or excessive swelling.
  • Avoid excessive heat during application, as it can accelerate setting and potentially cause skin burns.
  • Ensure the splint is applied without creating pressure points that could lead to skin breakdown.
  • Dispose of used splints and packaging according to local medical waste regulations.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • For external use only.
