How to Use

  1. Perform hand hygiene and don appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

  2. Prepare the insertion site using aseptic technique with an antiseptic solution.

  3. Apply a tourniquet proximal to the intended venipuncture site.

  4. Select a suitable vein, ensuring good visibility and palpability.

  5. Stabilize the vein and insert the cannula at an appropriate angle (typically 10-30 degrees).

  6. Observe for flashback in the flashback chamber to confirm venous entry.

  7. Once flashback is confirmed, advance the cannula a few millimeters further, then thread the catheter into the vein while withdrawing the needle.

  8. Release the tourniquet, activate the safety mechanism (if present), and completely withdraw the needle.

  9. Connect the appropriate IV administration set or cap the catheter hub.

  10. Secure the cannula with a sterile dressing and tape.

  11. Document the procedure, including the cannula size, insertion site, and date/time.


Caution & Warnings

  • Sterile, for single use only. Do not resterilize or reuse.

  • Do not use if the sterile packaging is damaged or opened.

  • Inspect the cannula for any damage or defects before use.

  • Ensure proper aseptic technique during insertion to prevent infections.

  • For use by trained healthcare professionals only.

  • Avoid arterial puncture; if suspected, remove the cannula immediately.

  • Dispose of used cannulas in a sharps container immediately after use.

  • Do not leave the cannula in place for extended periods beyond clinical guidelines.
