How To Use

1. Preparation: Ensure all necessary equipment is sterile. Perform hand hygiene and wear sterile gloves.
2. Lubrication: Apply a generous amount of sterile, water-soluble lubricant to the catheter tip and about 2-5 cm of its shaft.
3. Insertion: Gently insert the lubricated catheter into the urethra until urine flow is observed. Insert a few more centimeters to ensure the balloon is fully within the bladder.
4. Balloon Inflation: Using a sterile syringe, slowly inflate the balloon with the recommended volume of sterile water (usually indicated on the catheter funnels). Do not use air or saline.
5. Securement: Gently retract the catheter until resistance is felt, indicating the balloon is seated against the bladder neck. Secure the catheter to the patient’s thigh to prevent traction.
6. Drainage: Connect the catheter to a sterile urinary drainage bag.
7. Removal: To remove, fully deflate the balloon by aspirating the sterile water from the inflation lumen. Gently withdraw the catheter.
