How to Use:

1. Preparation: Perform thorough hand hygiene and don appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Gather all necessary supplies, including the MEDIPLUS IV Cannula, antiseptic wipes, tourniquet, dressing, and sharps container.

2. Site Selection: Select an appropriate venipuncture site, considering the patient's condition and therapy requirements. Prepare the skin using an antiseptic solution according to standard protocol and allow it to air dry completely.

3. Tourniquet Application: Apply a tourniquet approximately 4-6 inches above the chosen venipuncture site to distend the vein.

4. Cannula Inspection: Carefully inspect the MEDIPLUS IV Cannula packaging to ensure it is intact and the expiry date has not passed. Open the package aseptically.

5. Insertion: Stabilize the vein below the insertion site. Remove the needle guard and insert the cannula with the bevel up, gently piercing the skin and then entering the vein at a shallow angle (10-30 degrees).

6. Advancement: Observe for blood flashback in the flashback chamber. Once flashback is confirmed, advance the entire unit slightly further to ensure the catheter tip is fully within the vein.

7. Catheter Threading: While stabilizing the hub, carefully withdraw the introducer needle while simultaneously advancing the plastic catheter fully into the vein. Apply pressure proximal to the catheter tip to occlude the vein and prevent blood leakage.

8. Secure and Dress: Completely withdraw the needle and immediately dispose of it into a designated sharps container. Connect the desired IV line or cap the cannula. Secure the cannula with a sterile transparent dressing and tape, ensuring the insertion site is visible and clean.
