How to Use

1. Prepare the Wound: Gently clean the wound and surrounding skin according to standard clinical practice. Ensure the skin is dry around the wound edges.
2. Select Dressing Size: Choose a Mepitel dressing size (e.g., 20x31cm) that extends at least 2 cm beyond the wound margins to ensure proper adhesion to dry skin.
3. Apply Mepitel: Remove the protective film from Mepitel. Place the dressing directly onto the wound surface, ensuring full contact. Do not stretch the dressing during application.
4. Apply Secondary Dressing: Mepitel is a wound contact layer and requires a secondary absorbent dressing (e.g., Mepilex, Mesorb) to manage exudate and secure it in place. Apply this secondary dressing over Mepitel.
5. Secure Secondary Dressing: Use a retention bandage or medical tape to hold the secondary dressing and Mepitel securely.
6. Dressing Change Frequency: The secondary dressing should be changed as clinically indicated (e.g., when saturated). Mepitel itself can remain in place for up to 14 days, or as determined by a healthcare professional, depending on the wound condition and exudate levels.

Caution & Warnings

• Hypersensitivity: Do not use on individuals with a known hypersensitivity to silicone or other components of the dressing.
• Infection: If signs of clinical infection develop (e.g., increased pain, redness, swelling, purulent exudate, fever), consult a healthcare professional immediately.
• Sterility: Mepitel is supplied sterile. Do not use if the sterile barrier is damaged or opened.
• Single Use: This product is for single use only. Do not re-sterilize or reuse, as this may compromise its safety and performance.
• Avoid Stretching: Avoid stretching the dressing during application, as this may cause tension on the skin and reduce adhesion.
