Product Overview

The Tegaderm CHG Chlorhexidine Gluconate I.V. Securement Dressing (10x15.5 cm) provides advanced protection and securement for intravenous (IV) catheter sites. Designed by 3M, a leader in medical solutions, this innovative dressing integrates Chlorhexidine Gluconate (CHG) gel pad to offer continuous antimicrobial activity, helping to reduce the risk of catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSIs). It combines the benefits of a transparent film dressing with the antiseptic power of CHG, ensuring a sterile environment while allowing continuous visualization of the insertion site. This pack contains 25 dressings, ensuring ample supply for healthcare professionals.

Benefits of Use

  • Antimicrobial Protection: Features an integrated CHG gel pad that provides immediate and continuous antimicrobial action against a broad spectrum of bacteria and fungi at the catheter insertion site.
  • Enhanced Securement: Offers strong adhesion to secure catheters and other IV devices, reducing dislodgement and minimizing complications.
  • Site Visualization: Transparent film allows for continuous monitoring of the insertion site without removing the dressing, enabling early detection of infection signs.
  • Breathable Film: The breathable film allows moisture vapor and oxygen exchange, helping to maintain skin integrity and prevent maceration.
  • Extended Wear Time: Designed for up to 7 days wear time for central lines and up to 96 hours for peripheral lines, optimizing patient comfort and reducing dressing changes.
  • Easy Application: Frame delivery system ensures precise and easy application, even with gloves.

How to Use

  1. Prepare Site: Ensure the skin around the IV insertion site is clean, dry, and free from any antiseptics or solvents that may interfere with adhesion, allowing them to fully dry according to manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Remove Liner: Peel the liner from the dressing, exposing the adhesive surface and the CHG gel pad.
  3. Apply Dressing: Carefully center the CHG gel pad over the insertion site. Apply the dressing smoothly to the skin, ensuring firm contact around the catheter and site. Avoid stretching the dressing.
  4. Secure Edges: Gently press down on all edges of the dressing to ensure complete adhesion and create a secure seal.
  5. Document: Record the date and time of dressing application, along with the initials of the healthcare provider, on the dressing's documentation label (if applicable).
  6. Monitor: Regularly inspect the dressing and the insertion site for signs of infection, dislodgement, or moisture accumulation.
