This Short Term Hemodialysis Catheter is a 12 French, 160mm curved, double-lumen device for temporary central venous access. It is designed for efficient hemodialysis procedures, offering simultaneous arterial and venous access. Suitable for acute renal failure or short-term vascular support under professional medical supervision.

Short Term Hemodialysis Catheter - Curved Double Lumen 12 Fr x 160 mm

The Short Term Hemodialysis Catheter is a specialized medical device designed for temporary central venous access, primarily for hemodialysis, apheresis, or high-flow infusions. It provides reliable and efficient vascular access for patients requiring renal replacement therapy or similar procedures. The curved design facilitates optimal placement in the internal jugular or subclavian veins, ensuring proper flow dynamics.

Benefits of Use

  • Efficient double lumen design allows for simultaneous arterial and venous access, streamlining the hemodialysis process.
  • Curved tip configuration aids in easier insertion and optimal positioning within the central veins, potentially reducing vessel wall trauma.
  • Suitable for immediate and short-term vascular access needs in acute renal failure or while awaiting the maturation of permanent access.
  • Constructed from biocompatible materials, ensuring patient safety and minimizing tissue irritation.
  • Sterile, single-use packaging reduces the risk of infection and cross-contamination.

How to Use

  1. Ensure a strict sterile environment and technique throughout the catheter insertion procedure.
  2. Select the appropriate insertion site, typically the internal jugular or subclavian vein, after proper patient assessment.
  3. Prepare the insertion site by thoroughly cleaning it with an antiseptic solution according to institutional protocols.
  4. Under real-time ultrasound guidance, cannulate the chosen vein and advance the guidewire.
  5. Using the Seldinger technique, insert the dilators and then the hemodialysis catheter over the guidewire.
  6. Confirm the catheter tip's position in the superior vena cava or right atrium via chest X-ray.
  7. Secure the catheter to the skin using the provided fixation wings and apply a sterile, occlusive dressing.
  8. Prior to connecting to the dialysis machine, aspirate both lumens to ensure proper blood flow and flush with heparinized saline.

Caution & Warnings

  • FOR TEMPORARY VASCULAR ACCESS ONLY. NOT INTENDED FOR PERMANENT USE.
  • INSERTION AND REMOVAL MUST BE PERFORMED BY TRAINED MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS ONLY.
  • Risk of complications including infection, thrombosis, pneumothorax, hemothorax, arterial puncture, air embolism, and cardiac arrhythmia.
  • Do not reuse or re-sterilize this device; it is intended for single patient use only.
  • Inspect the sterile packaging for any damage before use. Do not use if the package is compromised.
  • Avoid kinking or clamping the catheter unnecessarily to prevent lumen occlusion or damage.
  • Careful maintenance and regular dressing changes are crucial to prevent catheter-related bloodstream infections.

Ingredients (Materials)

  • Medical-grade Polyurethane (or similar biocompatible polymer)
